Why is the Caux Forum shorter, and what else is happening in Caux through the summer?
The Caux Forum is shorter this year partly because the CATS conference has come to an end, so we have one less conference. The other conferences have been shortened by a day to save costs and also to free the Caux Conference and Seminar Centre for external events during the whole month of August. This will give us a chance to generate some income.
But isn’t the Caux Forum an activity that generates income?
In order to be as inclusive as possible, the Caux Forum prices are heavily subsidized. Initiatives of Change Switzerland’s main income, which covers the Caux Forum subsidies, comes from private donations, from renting out the Caux Palace to the Swiss Hotel Management School during the year and from renting out the Villa Maria for external events.
Why has the pricing policy changed?
To comply with Swiss authorities, we have to reach a balanced budget, so we’ve had to realign the Caux Forum prices. Our team has worked on a comprehensive pricing policy that reflects what the Caux Forum really costs. We’ve adapted the registration costs and separated the cost of the Caux Forum conference costs from the cost of food and accommodation. Participants will be able to choose which category of room they prefer. The prices are higher, but they now cover the basic maintenance of the historic building and the services needed to run the summer Forum. By paying these adjusted prices, you will also help us to include those who cannot afford to come to Caux without subsidies. You will support the sustainability of the Caux Forum and our mission to inspire, equip and connect people, groups and organizations to be the change they want to see in the world.
How can people who cannot afford the new prices still participate?
It is important to us to make the Caux Forum accessible to everyone. We will therefore provide limited subsidies for the Forum fees to those who cannot afford to pay the full price.
How can people support the Caux Forum?
Share this newsletter, tell people about the Caux Forum, encourage them to participate, sponsor a friend or volunteer to be part of a conference team. You can also donate here. If you know Caux, you will know how valuable the experience can be for individuals or groups, so if you know of a team or individual that would benefit from coming, connect them with the right event.
Do not hesitate to contact us at info@caux.ch for any additional information, or with any questions or concerns. We look forward to hearing from you!
